Hey there all, just a short question - does Qatar ever do status matches? Question my brother made to me. He is One World Emerald via LAN. (He is in their super status Commodoro Black - equivalent to QF P1)

We both will have to do a lot of Australia/Africa/Europe/USA travel. I have never flown Qatar, but friends say they are very good, both in the air and in lounges. I am One World Emerald (QF WP) and Star Alliance Gold (Avianca Diamond)

Is there any benefit seeking this?

Interesting question. I don't know the answer, but I can imagine there would be a few disgruntled QF flyers that would be interested in jumping ship, especially since QR have now doubled their presence in Australia.

QR isn't terribly appealing compared to QF. They have a similar Qpoints (like SC) earning structure to Qantas.

Now if QR was to partner with Australian banks to give credit card earning options and give Qpoints for ALL Qantas booking classes... that would be interesting! Qatar is the only Oneworld airline that could pull it off since they don't exactly need the alliance to turn a profit.

They may do. I would get in touch with the local office here in MEL and send them an email. I have previously had success.

Even more interesting is that Qatar is giving Coles Flybys members 3 tier miles credits for every dollar spent in store until 31 Dec and then 1 tier mile credit per dollar after that
And 25% discount for flights purchased and taken before 15 Nov!
