frustrated traveler - Mendoza
Trying to decide whether to book an arrival transfer in Mendoza, when I came across this doozy on the QF webpage, although I realise it is probably viator's 'fault' that this happened...

Really shouldn't someone be checking these pictures though?

The guy in the photo has just checked his Qantas points balance and is providing a visual representation of how many points he has earned for his Sydney-Mendoza Discount Economy ticket booked under a LAN code.

He plans to 'double up' on his return by spending $31 at Woolworths and swiping his EDR card.

No, especially not since things became Simpler and Fairer. It's Simpler and Fairer for you to earn a larger points haul on a special offer to buy tinned tuna at Woolies than it is to fly discount economy on partner airlines.

Don't speak too quickly there, the numbers are in that if you fly discount y on LA with points crediting to QF, you will make twice the points that you would in discount Y on QF!!!

you can see this on the points calculator...

I nearly had a seizure when I read your post jfabian. I'm doing SYD-SCL-SYD on QF codeshare one way and QF metal the other, but in discount J. This is what the calculator tells me, comparing LA to QF and I'm counting on the QF earn both ways!

But bronze / and/or discount economy will probably get screwed under 'Simpler and Fairer' (TM)

luckily when I booked with QF there was a double points promo.... although with my ticket being re issued last week and a new invoice, it'll be a lucky dip whether I get them or not...
