Does anyone know if SQ will allow intra-Europe connections on *A partners (with minor backtracking) to be tacked onto the "end" of an Australia-Europe SQ award itinerary - both in terms of whether it's allowed at all, and if so, how it affects the points-price?

The reason for asking, in case it's relevant: I'm booking an itinerary MEL-BUD for my parents for next year, and apart from the fact that SQ don't fly direct to BUD, the best I've been able to find on the dates that work for them is MEL-xSIN-LHR. What I want to know is whether I could then add, e.g., LHR-xFRA-BUD on LH, onto the end of MEL-xSIN-LHR, to keep it all on one ticket for purposes of through-checking bags, protection in the case of missed connections, etc.

Thanks!

Earlier this year booked MEL-SIN-MUC-GVA with the MUC-GVA on LH and retuned GVA-LHR (on LX)-SIN-MEL. Booked as a *A redemption all on 2 separate tickets J all the way there and back. You can only book these by calling kris flyer, no 15% discount for online. The cost from memory was 95K each way
Cheers and Merry Christmas

PS I'm doing the same trip again in Jan (more skiing :)) but returning thru FRA not LHR

As per Danger UXB, you can combine *A Airlines but it must be booked as a *A award via SQ, rather than a SQ Award.

Point cost is as per the *A Table.

I have booked a number of *A awards via SQ. If pays to know your options, and availaibities in advance so that you can have an airline and or route preference that suit you best.

ie Last Feb I flew back a daughter from Ghana to Melb in J, with a stopover in Thailand on the way.

If you have a complicated routing like I had then, they will often call you back rather than keep you on hold.

If availability is not showing I still call and ask, as I have had good success wit absolutely no status finding seats.

I have always found the SYD number staff number very helpful (even if it is I am sure on many occasions diverted to SIN). Like one year I was booking very late with SQ options all booked out, and was given a very complicated route to Paris with LH with long layovers.. A friendly and chatty tone by myself, and bang 3 hours later they rang me back with 3 tickets in June to Paris in J on Thai, all direct with minimal layover.

Points price: Unfortunately the *A Table went up cost wise a year or so back, and so straight SQ is best (has the 15% as well). However when you want to add on flights, the total point cost then gets better as you save the extra flight cost, but no the taxes and charges which will go up.
However the *A table does have good value for some locations. ie Johannesburg to London.

Availability: A big boon of a *A redemption is very good availability in many cases. So it may cost a bit more, but you get seats when and where you want to fly.
