Surely MR to SPG is a cheaper option!
But if someone needs more miles for an award buying is fine if you dont have any other way.
EG-if I buy 20000 SPG points for $280+costs I can transfer to AA and get 25000 AA miles. If I were to buy through aa.com it would cost me $550+costs.SPG therefore is a better way to go.

I don't understand your maths.

EDIT: Worked out what you've done... but 20,000 SPG points is actually $560 - not $280.

Yes I forgot the $14 figure was for 500 points.then again the AA figure also has a 20% discount applied at the moment-so if you have used your AA quota already this year the SPG offer is still worthwhile.
And 20000 SPG points can mean 25000 points on US,SG etc

Discount is on again. So if you buy 20000 and transfer to an airline(becomes 25000) it costs 2.24 US cents per airline mile.

I need 14,000 (in 1 USDM account) and 19,000 (in another USDM account) USDM miles ASAP to book award redemptions. I was planning to just buy them at full price ($35 per 1,000) as the other miles to make up the rest of the redemption were obtained very cheaply.

I dont know much about SPG so can someone confirm the costs and process to get these 33,000 miles I need if I do it this way?

Obviously the big question is how long the whole process will take - I would like to book the flights next Tuesday - can this be achieved? If I buy outright through USDM they will clear in 72 hours.

Thanks

If you transfer less than 20000 points you dont get a bonus so points cost2.8 US cents.
When I purchased SPG points in the past they were in my account the next day-and that is what they say should happen.
Transferring to AA the points always go over on a friday US time.Have no idea if US is the same.My guess is it would be safer to do it with US direct seeing you have only a week.

Why full price, have you already used up your 100% share and 100% buy/gift threshold?. I'd be doing that first!

Got 100K at the share price and found the perfect itinerary to a very tricky destination. Going to wait a week to see if there is another buy promo but worried if I leave it much longer the flights will vanish.
