More than a month ago, a direct debit to my Amex platinum dishonoured. mid 5-figure amount.
I paid the balance a separate way (so I was never late, as the direct debit is ~4 days before due date).
Amex, strangely, has never un-wound the dishonoured auto-payment..
Calling them, they say "we wait for the bank to tell us".
It's been > 30 days.
I don't think the bank is telling them.
I imagine I've done what I need to do and I'll let the financial institutions manage this?

Obviously this didn't create money out of thin air... maybe I cancel the card? (laughs)

I had something similar with another bank. I ended up lodging an AFCA complaint. Seemed like a massive over reaction but it was the only option I was left with.
