My partner would like to sign up to a credit card with qantas points but does not have a qff account. She would like to just credit them to my qff account. The bank has said it has to be the same name on both or it could cause issues, yet I rang qantas and they said it didn’t really matter (although the operator didn’t seem to be very knowledgeable).

Can anyone confirm that if she has her name on the credit card yet credits the points to my qff account that it may cause issues?

Same name is normally the requirement.

I've certainly seen reports of transfers being rejected because the names do not match.

Why not sign your wife up for her own QFF account? It's free. Get the points deposited to her account and then transfer them to your own QFF account.

Certainly the last name would have to match, and probably first initial. Otherwise QFF would refuse the points transfer.

I have a hyphen in my name QFF occasionally call me by the first letter before the hyphen and nothing else. Sometimes they loose the first letter and hyphen. It’s always fun to log into my account to see what they are going to call me. Of my six credit cards some have first letter space rest of first name. Others have first letter no hyphen or space and the rest of the letters jammed right up next to first letter.

So technically i think they must use last name only. However it’s not worth the risk and hassle if something goes wrong - get her an account and family transfer if you want the points in yours.
