Hi all,

I think I might've stuffed up a reward booking.. We are flying SYD-SIN-LGK and I was searching for F Suites reward bookings with SQ. I noted that since the SIN-LGK leg doesn't have F we couldn't do a mixed class redemption. As a result I booked F SYD-SIN return and with the view to book standard revenue tickets from SIN-LGK in Y.

Upon reading the tips and traps thread, I think I probably could've called and had a multi-class booking made over the phone, which would've meant having J seats from SIN-LGK for very little extra.

Is my understanding correct? Should I try call SQ and get this amended, pending seat availability and change fees?

Give SQ a call and see what they can do for you. You're right, you should have booked SYD-SIN-LGK online in J and then call SQ to upgrade SYD-SIN to F. I've recently booked my MEL-SIN-BKK that way.

Thanks I didn't know that was an option with reward bookings.

I have called SQ and they've said it's usually charged as an additional leg, but they have 'appealed' to have the whole booking charged as F Saver from SYD-LGK (which is the same miles as what I've already redeemed) then just bump us down to J on the SIN-LGK leg. If the 'appeal' doesn't work it's basically the same as 2 separate bookings from a miles perspective, which seems a bit ridiculous. I'm confident common sense will prevail.

It's not a case of 'common sense' - you have just spoken to an inexperienced agent. YES mixed class rdpts are possible on ALL routes with > one sector - whole of itinerary / booking will be charged at highest cabin class on booking - so F SYD-SIN then J SIN-LGK will price at F rates and will be eligible for F benefits on ALL sectors. So YES - what you have paid so far in pts is all you will be up for if 2nd sector J SIN-LGK added - you will be up for extra Taxes though.

If they call you back and give you any other cough and bull story just do not accept it.

Thanks for the info - good to be armed with that ammo for when they call back.

Very interesting, so if we have a stopover in SIN we'd be eligible for The Private Room on the SIN-LGK leg? That's a benefit I wasn't expecting! :)

Update:

A few calls later, going around in circles and apparently the 'appeal' was accepted. They've taken payment details and assure me the tickets will be issued in the next couple of days.. Now we wait.

Just from the above post and others in the forum can I get a quick clarification.

I want to fly PER-SIN-LHR in first/suites (the PER-SIN leg only has highest class J). Do I pay F fare from PER-LHR - 115,000 points and get PER-SIN J, SIN-LHR F ? (because SIN-LHR is already 107.5K)
and I get the 15% discount also even though I have to use the call centre to get the mixed class fare?

Thank you in advance

Yes, prozerran, you are correct. You are entitled to the 15% discount as you cannot book a mixed fare online.
