Hi there,

I notice that the earnings chart shows a W fare class for Delta earns does on premium economy, but only when codesharing on a VA operated flight. "~Only available on codeshare services operated by Virgin Australia."

So what does a Delta operated domestic W(Comfort+) earn?

It's not on the chart, is this a mistake or does it earn 0?

Any insight or first hand experience would be appreciated.

Cheers.

It earns at premium economy rate and has to be Delta aircraft and the ticket has to be a VA number ie Flight VA6xx_. Practically this also means it has to be part of a ticket that has an Australian port in one or more of its sectors. So if you used the Delta app and booked a separate Delta comfort seat it will have DL flight number and will be classed an an economy seat for VA status credit earn

I suspect johnnyfive is referring to the upcoming changes where Delta Comfort+ is changing to be it's own separately bookable fare class (W) in May? If that's the case, I hope it's because VA simply haven't updated their tables to reflect that yet.

Delta W fares are their "premium coach fares". Dummy bookings on forward DL Comfort+ sectors suggests that DL is retaining this bucket for this cabin. Of course VA is free to modify how they treat this but VA pays premium economy SC on these fare byckets on codeshares only suggesting an alignment for passengers travelling on either VA or DL metal transpacific. Now DL has a product closer to VA premium economy.

Oh I agree it really isn't a PE product, and would be surprised if it earned PE SCs as such! But to the original question, I was really just suggesting that fact that there's no relevant information now (surely it won't be non-earning), is because VA haven't updated their tables yet. If it's anything like VX and Main Cabin Select fares, maybe Delta Comfort+ will earn full fare Y?

It will be Y earning if DL ticket.
DL is making their C+ a separate cabin. Economy is now "Main cabin". You will see it when in Delta.com
Its not PE but better than main cabin and VA will sell it in the PE column in their website.

I think it will be PE earning but as you know, the airlines can "enhance" it in any direction they like.

Indeed Cryptarcadian I was looking at domestic W bookings past May and wondered where they would fit in the chart. I've seen a few that make for some inexpensive SC runs, but only if they fall under Premium Economy. Might just pay to wait and see instead of booking and getting burned. Hopefully the VA rep that gave us an update in the other thread can chime in.
