Delta lounge access - does velocity number need to be on DL boarding pass?

Just a question, based on some assumptions:
1) Velocity Gold members can access Delta lounges in US when flying on Delta, even for domestic flights (as far as I understand that is correct). But no other benefits such as free baggage, priority check in, priority baggage etc
2) Skyteam Elite Plus members can't access Delta lounges when flying on domestic flights (unless international same day connection), but do get all the other benefits.

Leads to the question if one has a Skyteam number in the reservation/on the BP, can you get into a Delta Lounge simply by presenting the Velocity (gold or platinum) card at the lounge?

To answer my own thread. Card alone should give you access, irrespective of FF number in the booking and on the boarding pass. But only if the lounge dragons know what on earth Velocity is and who on earth Virgin Australia are . Two of us travelling, same city, same time, but different airports. Same scenario wrt to Flying Blue number on BP and trying to get access to lounge using Velocity Gold Card.

Person 1: LGA - Got the - don't know who they are so no, and even if we did give access would only be at JFK as you would need to be on a international flight (ie Skyteam rules). Think she may have thought I found the card in a cereal packet or some such thing.
Person 2: JFK - No problems at all "Welcome, and thank you for being a gold member of our partner airline".

Interesting, thanks for the update. Were you on regular DL economy tickets?
Thats the fear I have... Rejection...so I'm tempted to book on VA tickets to make sure I get lounge access. I asked about conpanion access, and they said yes.

Only thing is VA can't do purely internal flights that aren't considered inbound or outbound to US. I'm told I have make alternative arrangements.

Just regular DL tickets for solely domestic flights. I think it wouldn't make a difference who you booked tickets with, if they don't know who VA is they don't know who VA is.

In 3 attempts:

At LAX. Absolutely no problem - with my Virgin Plat card.
At ATL. Woman had never heard of Virgin Australia but looked it up on the computer when i insisted and ultimately said it was fine.
At JFK. Again, asolutely no problem.

Oh BTW, I was person 1, but as it turned out I probably didn't need lounge access, as my priority was to have some decent food in the airport, given that I was boarding at 18:10, and my flight was too short (3hr15mins) for anything other than snacks (ie cheese and crackers type food) available for purchase on board. Of course no later opportunity to eat either, as followed by short connection and another 1 hr flight ( which was too short for even water to be served). At the end of the day one has to lower expectations dramatically to sub-LCC levels if flying domestically in US in economy (unless actually flying on a LCC).

Dajop,

had similar experience at Delta lounge @ BOS in February. Check-in agent did an impersonation of your "Person 1". But i tried again with the lounge dragons, and one took the time to lookup the rule book. Sure enough, no problems with lounge access, despite being on a regular coach-class Delta ticket. lesson is: polite persistence prevails.

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to see how people had gone with getting access lately?

Am heading to the US in July, combo of DL Y and F domestically over there, and wanted to see if access and recognition had improved at all?

I tweeted DeltaAssist and was told "You'd only be able to enter if you're connecting to an international SkyTeam trip" which doesn't make a lot of sense.

I had no issues at any airports on my last trip

Used LAX, MCO, ATL, LAS and SFO delta lounges.

Just showed my Velocity Gold card with the boarding pass and was checked straight in.
The lounge dragons/angels even moved my seating forward in most cases

Hmm. Could be worth a try if flying KLM or Air France ex USA :)
