Anyone have any knowledge of points redemption for Award tickets and upgrades for flights outside of the USA. The points table on the website is only for flights originating in the USA.

Delta currently have a 75% bonus for transfers which could work out nice for my family.

stupid forum wont let me put the link in! go to delta.com and you can work it out!

Thanks - thats great.

Trying to get something out of BRI or SYD to either SE_Asia or US as either award tickets or upgrades - then whose paper do I have to buy the tickets on to upgrade?

This is actually a 10 year legacy - in that we took the family around the world on NorthWest in 2000 and the kids have these dormant points acquired by Delta with the the demise of NorthWest.
I think Northwest were one of the first airlines to bring in life long points.

You’re travelling from Bari Airport (BRI) in Italy? Maybe you meant Brisbane (BNE)? ;)

I would have though the redemption amounts to the US from Australia would be the same as from the US to Australia. It’s essentially the same route.

As for getting to SE Asia, I see the problem as nothing is listed, though they’re only partnered with V Australia, not Virgin Blue I don’t think. At least I can’t see anything mentioning Virgin Blue, just V Australia.

sorry - yeah BRISBANE

I'll have to ring - when it was NorthWest - you could redeem on Malaysian and KLM through NorthWest out of Australia.
As malaysian is a skymiles partner I'm hoping this will still be possible.
Just reading that delta forum - it's no easy thing getting awards and upgrades.

It's there a derivates market for Frequent Flyer Points;)
