Hi Guys,

I’m looking for some advice from the experts; I am in the process of booking a DCIR26 ex. PVG. As I have done in the past I rang QF in Australia to enter my flights into the system after checking D class availability for the flights I wanted on Expert Flyer. This is much faster than trying to deal with QF Shanghai office who informs me only Cathay Pacific can issue Circle Pacific tickets (slight language barrier).

Expert Flyer is showing availably as below however QF advises they do not have access to any D class seats for this sector/date. Am I better off trying to book through JL or AA RTW desk or wait and re-check QF again in a few days?

JFK-NRT – JL 005
F8 A0 C9 J9 D9 X2 I0 Y9 W9 E4 B9 H9 K9 M0 L0 V9 S0 N0 Q0 O0 G0

Routing is:
PVG-HKG-MEL-SYD
SYD-LAX-DEN-DFW-LAS
LAS-JFK
JFK-NRT-PVG

Is there likely to be any major cost implications (more/less taxes and surcharges) by booking through JL or AA vs. QF? QF has quoted me RMB51,748 for the above itinerary.

Cheers.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Fare bucket availability can be varied by airlines using quite a few different criteria.

One of the these is location. E/F shows availability from a North American perspective.

e.g. It is quite possible JL is making D class on this flight available for sales ex USA, but not for sales ex Oz.

Definitely try JAL or AA.As I have reported here before I have been able to get J Aawards when mrs.dr.ron who is WP cant get a classic award through QFF.Paid tickets I would presume are no different.

Thank you for the replies.

I have checked with JL today, they also do not have access to any D class seats on JL 005, however they could book D class on the AA code share for this flight. Call back to QF and they can also book D class on the AA code share. I should have thought about this earlier.
