I haven't been to Darwin airport in many, many years and I wouldn't have thought of them as a leader in using new tech. But obviously they've decided they want to differentiate themselves from other airports in Australia and so they've started looking for ways they can lead. An iPhone app and Twitter feed is a small thing, but it shows but they're thinking about how they can improve service and communication, something not many other Australian airports are bothering with.

I think more of these location specific apps will be a great boon. Apple patented one recently where once you get a location the app "installs" itself and then removes itself once you leave the location. Great for finding your way around malls, museums, hotel complexes etc.

I would love for a Westfield app that would give me interactive maps of the mall I am in so it is easy to find things. then link that to some form of online ordering system and my sushi should be waiting for me as I hit the restaurant ;)
