Okay, this is amusing on so many levels...

Dale Watson's Tiger Airways Blues Song To Be Released On YouTube

American alt-country singer Dale Watson was travelling from Melbourne to Sydney on his way to the Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival in April when the discount airline charged him a $500 excess baggage fee for a box of CDs worth $3000. Mr Watson claims the airline then lost the CDs en route, leaving him nothing to sell at the concert, and has failed to reimburse him or return the discs.Despite the airline immediately promising to "make amends" the drama has dragged on for months and inspired a jingle that is unlikely to feature in the airline's next ad campaign - Tiger Airways and Their We Don't Care-ways

There goes Tiger Airways and their we don't care-ways
You got a complaint, well stand in line
You got a problem, well that's your problem...

They charged me 500 dollars in extra baggage fees

My hands were tied
I had to pay their price

But now I'm back in Texas and like a Tiger Airways rep said

They ain't gonna help me if they could.

His name was Timothy Archer

He worked public relations along with Simon Murphy
They made the calls
When all was said was done, nothing was said and done
Which seems to be their motto after all.

I do feel sorry for him - annoying that whoever made his travel arrangements in Australia (assuming it wasn't him) didn't put him on any other airline given all the stuff he needed to cart around.

I'm of the opinion that once an airline starts charging for baggage their duty of care goes beyond "best effort". it is now a freight service which has been specifically paid for. I'm just waiting for a lawyer to take on an airline over lost baggage...

I read this story yesterday, and apparently after he released the song on youtube they agreed to refund his $500 excess baggage charge and re-imburse him for the wholesale value of the lost CDs.
