I notice that Wednesday 7 August 2013's CX178 due out at 2340 from MEL to HKG has been deferred to 1500 today (8 August 2013). It's normally an A333.
What initially went wrong (later, the crew would be out of hours but that probably wasn't the cause)?
Did passengers know about the delay when checking in or was it 'discovered' when pax were in the boarding area or CX lounge?
If any TAFFers were travelling, were passengers who live in MEL simply told to go home of their own accord, were they given taxi vouchers or were they put up at an airport (not that there are many) or CBD hotel? What about interstaters and overseas residents? If an hotel, it might have been 'late to bed.'
