Hi all,

Just a few questions about an upcoming trip on CX (my first CX flight in about 10 years!)

Due to needing to be in India earlier than my (already ticketed :() flights, I needed to book on CX as QF had no D class availability anywhere near the dates I wanted to fly (either SYD-BOM or SYD-HKG-BOM).

I've ended up with:
CX138 SYD 21:55 HKG 05:25+1 33B
CX685
HKG 15:40 BOM 19:10+1 773

I went through HKG in 2006 and realise it's one of the better airports to have to spend time in (given it has a variety of shops and....2 F lounges?), but I'm wondering if 9+ hrs is pushing it a bit. Will any of the F lounges be open at ~6am? Do any of them have decent seats/recliners to sleep in? I presume I'll be OK to check my luggage all the way through (given this is all on the same ticket)?

If I was to leave the airport...any recommendations for things to do? I love HKG, but I've been twice and done the "usual" tourist things - The Peak, shopping, Star Ferry, LKF etc... Haven't seen the big Buddha though.

Also, are the J seats decent on these (33B and 773)? I'm pretty keen to try out CX Business so I'm not too fussed either way, just curious. Not sure how I can tell if the 773 is an ER or not.

Lastly - if I had a DONE4 booked with SYD-HKG-BOM (QF then CX) on 19/7, and this was moved to SYD-HKG-BOM (all CX) on 13/7...is it right that this requires re-ticketing? Same route, but different carriers.

Thanks!

Cheers,
- Febs.

Well, 9hrs would be for me pushing it ! unless you really like sitting in the lounges and just a bit of shopping.

For that time you can easily go into the city, just buy your train ticket on the way out of the airport. Its cheap.
Not sure what you may want to do in the city... more shopping ;) who knows but i am sure you will find something.

The Wing (closest to immigration and near gate 2) will be open. The Pier (near gate 60-something) opens around 7am. Luggage is not a problem and I would be confident in it not going missing at HKG.

The 33B is the new herringbone J seat config. The seats are good, but I did find some lumps in awkward places when in bed mode. but they do go flat. I suggest going for the K seats as the A and D seats point towards a common aisle and the K seats have their own aisle. IFE is excellent on the A33B.

The 773 will be old regional business class seats. They are ok, but not lie flat and old pneumatic recline controls. IFE is loop system on the 773.

They may want to re-issue, but there should not be a re-issue fee. However the airline may charge a revalidation or service fee independent of the fees published in the fare rules.

Slightly off topic, but were there no D fares on PER-SIN-BOM on Qantas ? - certainly great connection times and saves 9 hours at least.

PER-SIN 12.00 - 17.25
SIN-BOM 19.10 - 21.50 (QF codeshare)
