Hi there.

a relative of mine, works for an airline, so we can get discounted flights on 3 major airlines, only problem is that you travel on standby, meaning you can only travel if there's spare seats available.

Cathay Pacific is one of the airlines we can get discounts for.

I'm just wondering, for those who regularly fly from HKG, to JNB or those who've flown more then once on that route. Please, can I be advised what the capicity of those flights are? For example, is the plane full each time, or are there plenty of spare seets available?

Thanks

HKG-JNB on CX is a daily 744. Monday Tuesday and Wednesday are normally slack travel days except in peak holiday periods. OTOH premium seats disappear on long flights faster than short haul...

YMMV

Happy wandering

you might want to try a forum that has a wider number of users actually using ID/airline staff travel for tips. here for the most part we are all poor full-revenue paying sods i think!

1 person per seat?

744 usually has F 9, (Old) J 46 and J 324

There's most likely someone on airliners.net who could tell you what the average loads are like.
