Current F Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

At SYD last week I asked for Champagne (without specifying a label) and was given what looked and tasted like cider.
On inquiry the waiter insisted it was Taittinger.
I swapped it for a glass of the PJ and all was well.

My last F lounge on Monday was also without Tattinger. Seems to be a trend with CX F in London removing brands too.

Incidentally received a complementary bottle of PJ in my room at Conrad Hong Kong Monday night and now onbaord the PJ train.

Not 100% sure on what they are but they got rid of Barons de Rothschild which I was disappointed with as that was very easy to drink and that was my home lounge.
Unfortunate, that also happened in HKG Wing and Pier F when Sodexo took over. I quite liked the Rothschild too.
They did have Louis Roderer 2012 which has now been removed..

I visited the Sydney lounge a couple of weeks ago and had a wonderful time and delicious meals (pictured). There was no Taittinger but I enjoyed the Pommery :) IMG_8418.jpgIMG_8422.jpgIMG_8424.JPG

Once again the small plates look good to me. Less so the mains but still good variety. Bit of a shame (in my opinion) that the beef brisket is now a staple (with minor variation).

I like the brisket so no complaints here .Linguine was nice but needed some salt.

Rather than my usual corn fritters I thought I’d start the year a bit healthy*.

Corn and bean healthy bowl. I asked for smoked salmon to be added, and very generous quantity was provided. Delicious dish.

* if I could crop the Lagavulin 14 I would. Not a bad pairing, FYI.
