Plus, managed to nab a massage in the spa (they had a cancellation, so got in 15 mins after arriving at the lounge)!
seems like no one cares about the beer corner 🥲🥲🥲 The WLG lounge does a better job than that!

Was at SYD F a couple of weeks ago with the autumn menu. It was my first visit, so I was excited to see what it was like.

Food: Very Good-Excellent. The pasta, the calamari, and the tomato with buffalo Mozzarella were all up to scratch.

Service: Slow. Staff weren't super attentive, and actually forgot my drink order on one occasion. Butthey did seem young, so possibly new to the role.

Dining Experience: Overall, OK. I don't like Qantas cutlery on planes, but I really don't understand why they use it in the lounge as well. The view of the apron was pretty great, and I got to watch QF1 depart from the gate next door.

Lounge Feel: After eating I moved towards the other end of the lounge to find somewhere to do some work. The lounge is a little dated, which is to be expected at this point, but it would be nice if they maybe at least replaced the aging furniture.

Overall I prefer the Singapore F lounge for service and decor, but the view of the runway in Sydney is a nice bonus.

I also got to experience the JAL F lounge at Haneda for the first time recently. Very good experience with excellent food. I'm unsure about ordering via QR code in a first lounge though. Feels very impersonal.

A few pics from SYD F this afternoon/evening. Service was below par - it took over 45 minutes for food to start coming out and even then it was inexplicably cold. Restaurant was dead quiet, perhaps 20% full (several free window seats and only 2/3 dining sections open). Korean fried chicken was 'sold out'.

Yes, I thought so too when I was there a few months ago, so I asked an attendant to bring me something.

In true Japanese style, she was more than happy to do so and also offered advice on what she thought might be most appropriate.

In contrast to recent posts, I was at SYD F prior to QF7 (SYD-DFW) so mid afternoon. Lounge was busy-ish, but not heaving. I feared for slow service, so I actually ordered a couple of dishes at once in anticipation. Staff were very good both with drink refills and service to the area I was in. I neither felt rushed or neglected. In fact I needed a break at one point as that double dish order was perhaps not the smartest move in hindsight! LOL but I did not find it slow or subpar (I have previously though).

so, like most things, can be variable.

Must admit I’d never heard of whipped macadamias and was Intrigued, so asked for this. Not the best pic.

Probably better suited to a summer menu but was light and fresh.

Also sampled the braised pork which was tasty and a generous serve.

And some in Sydney this time.

Definitely the best gua bao I’ve had in a F lounge. Pork was crispy but tender.

Not the largest piece of fish, but the blue eye was perfectly prepared and the pickled vegetables very tasty and fresh.

And I’ll happily eat my own words about the lack of good whiskey in the SYD lounge. A couple of more decent options, including Ardbeg 10.

I had same selections in both SYD (end Apr) and MEL (last weekend) and look forward to new menu (winter?). Are there quarterly updates?
