Those lamb and chili paste noodles are insanely good. The first dish in the Flounge I've been legitimately impressed by (well, aside from the squid).

One positive from the reduced Sydney menu is it encouraged me to try a dish I probably otherwise wouldn't have -- the marinated carrot, feta and orange salad. Very nice. Not so suited to a winter menu but still a very nice light option:

Followed Kermatu's lead with the fish curry and egg noodles - very nice sauce. Also went with the duck ragu, but ended up with a duck breast instead - so happy with that, and the dish was a good choice. No decanter today, but the St Hugo Shiraz 2012 is doing a fine job. No spa availability today, but we've had a good run lately :)

Is the reduced menu still in operation in SYD?
If nobody else does I can answer that question in a week.

I was in the MEL lounge yesterday and checked out the kitchen. I'd swear it is smaller than the temporary setup I saw in SYD and only had 3 cooks - so on the face of it the reduced menu seems odd. I'm sure I'm not seeing the full picture though. And it's not as though some fabulous specialties like crayfish / lobster are being left out...

Rugby - do you mind advising on your time of arrival in the lounge (with respect to requesting a spa appointment)? I fear I will miss next week too as I'm flying in from Perth before an international connection.

kermatu - today we were 12.30pm into the lounge and asked about availability upon entry as per usual. But for our NZ flights it's typically 1pm entry into the lounge, and other than today have had good success lately. Good luck - you're overdue!

I asked the question GoldCanyon340 and the word is it is a 2 phase change - due for overall completion at the end of Sept. After phase 1 is done they will probably change the restricted menu again because the temporary kitchen will morph again for phase 2, prior to the full refit being completed.

thanks. I'm there tomorrow but will probably limit myself to the fish curry before the long leg to DXB. It looks good.

Thanks, though actually I've been 100 per cent successful last few times in both SYD (mid or late morning arrival) and MEL (early evening arrival).
