Are there any offers going at the moment for free Status Points? I only have a month left and I need 150 to maintain Gold. There is no way I can keep Plat this year, but gold would be nice to hold onto.

Alternately any good status runs from North QLD? I'm a bit time short but could probably give it a go....

Thanks!

Do you mean status credits rather than frequent flyer points? AustraliaPoochie will likely note your confusing terminology.

Obviously, since they are talking about retaining status. I think the days of status boosters such as SCs with cards or double campaigns are over.

I have not as yet ever seen a credit card that will give you SC (Status Credits), for those only way to get is when you fly.
FF points, now a second to me, yes, credit card companies will give you a lot of that, just for signing up or for spending.
Waffle it is, I am sure, SC/FF points, meaningless to most, but I have had a taste of it, and will try to/have to retain both Silvers with VA and QF, and my reading of it, is that the only way to get this, is to fly with either of the 3 airlines in Australia that will give you SC.
But of course, your magic might work, and you find a credit card that will give you SC. I certainly couldnt.
CNS - BNE with VA in J - 60 SC $$$
BNE - AKL with NZ in J - 60 SC $$$$
AKL - SYD with NZ in - J - 60 or FlexY 30 SC
SYD - CNS with VA FlexY - 20
Assuming you live in CNS.
First calculate the miles flown, then refer to how many SC you earn in the "right class".

Thanks everyone! I have worked out the costs of maintaining Gold, there is no way I can get back to Plat, but its just going to be too expensive for either. The credit card offering 150 SC you were referring to was the one I was thinking of, shame the deal has now finished... Was looking for another one of these.

Looks like I will be back on silver for a while...:(

If you're currently on Platinum then you should receive a "soft landing" and get bumped down to Gold instead of all the way down to Silver.

Both hubby and I used to regularly receive CC offers with bonus SCs at least every 6 months or so. Starting getting them when we were Silver status and then they ramped up when we hit Gold LOL. Never took any of them up as I already have an Amex card (bank-issued) and was told by Amex when I enquired about one offer that the bonus SC offers were only valid for new Amex cardholders. Haven't received any such offers though for probably at least 12-18 months now.

They dont issue credit cards to pets or working animals.
Or those humans who earn less than $15,000.
There is a box for unemployed, under income type, but would what chances woe a person like that get a true credit card.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Can I just confirm - if I have set up family pooling so that I am the beneficiary, and my spouse transferred ANZ points to take advantage of the offer posted above, those status credits will pool just like status credits earned on flights yes? And the points transferred would also end up in my account? Thanks!

This is exactly what happened when MrsZim got an AMEX card with Velocity points (no SC's unfort) , the points were transferred over to me seamlessly. Can't imagine it would be any different for a card that posts both points and SC as its all done at the Velocity end.
