Did you know ?

Went to my TA yesterday about some TI with pre-existing medical conditions. Normally, like most policies, you have the base rate, and then a loading for for your medical issues.

It turns out Covermore are doing away with this extra loading and you will just pay the initial base rate - assuming you don't have any high risk/major issues - whatever they may be - and you will still have to pay for them.

Covermore rep told my TA that they were in the process of updating the TA access website, and will do the publicly assessable site soon.

In short, by going to my TA I saved about $300 - 400 on my TI for my upcoming 60 day trip to Europe.

Not a bad little earner.

Many pre existing ones were covered so what extras have now been included automatically?

as an example, I've got DISH, osteoarthritis and Type II Diabetes and they are/were now all covered for nothing

A few days ago my TA road-tested my case and we got a much higher figure. Then yesterday I went in there after she came in with a much lower figure - assuming she had made a mistake somewhere, or I had left something out. We then went through the whole quote thing again - and the lower figure remained the quoted one.

It was at this point she rang the medical team at Covermore, and we were advised about the changes.

Happy days for me - it was at that point I accepted the quote and merrily skipped out of the store. Well OK the skipping part is an exaggeration - but all the rest is true !! :)

Very interesting! Just about to ask my TA about a new Covermore policy. Will see what happens.

It was mainly cost for me in this particular case. Also the convenience of having the TA to support you is nice. I also like to support local business if I can, if it is reasonably cost effective to do so.

If i was doing a point to point, short, simple trip, I would probably do my own TI, too.

Is there an advantage in going through a TA regarding travel insurance? I just do the travel insurance, myself, on-line.

I've usually done it for convenience. I've never noticed any price difference from getting the same product on line.

Just with flight bookings, I tell the TA what I want in insurance ( duration, places are the main ones) and they get a couple of quotes. Still need me to do the medical stuff off course.

That said, I've been following what others have said about various TI providers and I want going to go with the TA necessarily this time. Will see what the new set up is like.
