I purchased a business class reward ticket New York to SYD via Chicago and Brisbane, the 1st leg on AA, the 2nd and 3rd on QF, all on one booking through Qantas FF
I discovered after I'd booked it my frequent flyer account had my first name as my first and last name. ie First name John Smith Last Name Smith

FF has corrected my profile but I'm told by Phillipines ticketing (after on hold for 1.5hrs) I need to cancel the booking and rebook with no guarantee of getting my seat back. I don't have enough points to be able to cancel and rebook quickly - I assume I'll have to wait for them to be re-instated and I thought getting this ticket was a bit of luck. I'm not flying until June.

Any tips? Should I try call FF? Does anyone think I can run the gauntlet? Can I get hold of Hobart call centre?

Since it's on another carrier. You'll have to refund and rebook. Names changes are not possible.

HUACA, i.e Hang up and call again is always worth a try.

Also, do it quickly, especially if you purchased the ticket today.

A new PNR does seem to be required, but does this necessarily mean the inventory is not usable? Shouldn't an agent (possibly with manager approval) be able to do something like override the inventory in making the new booking, to ensure the same fare class can be used? AA allows this if it were ticketed through AA (with a US $25 fee). I am not really sure the details of how points ticketing works however, so I agree it's tricky if there aren't enough available points to make the second booking before the first one's points are refunded.
