Hello,
I'm not sure if this mentioned somewhere else (please merge thread if that would be more appropriate).
I've got what would normally be a connecting flight from USA, through DOH, to Australia but purchased on separate points tickets (separate points currencies) with a transit time of 3 hours. I've looked into connecting these but I appear to not be able to. I assume this means that I'll need to enter Qatar by going through the customs line (and therefore requiring entry documents, such as a visa), collect my luggage, then re-check the luggage back onto the next flight. Will three hours between flights be enough for this?
(I'm concerned that if the first flight is delayed/cancelled, or the customs line is super long in DOH, I'm at risk of missing my flight back to Aus.)
As both flights are with QR, is it possible for the check-in desk staff member to check my luggage all the way through to Australia, meaning that I wouldn't need to "enter" Qatar but just stay in the transit area?
I've looked into moving the second one to a later date but no availability (maybe there'll be more closer to the date of travel (July))?
I've tried to see if it's possible to enter via a different Australian city but I appear to only be able to change the date. I suppose I could attempt cancelling the ticket, wait for the points to reach my account, then re-book via a different Australian city and hope that it doesn't get nabbed in the meantime.
What are your thoughts?
(I know that I should've allowed a day or two in-between but this was a rookie mistake that I'll learn from for next time.)
