Connecting flights with same flight number

Hi,

I've got a couple of flights coming up where both legs of the flight have the same flight number (with the domestic legs appearing to be semi-regular repositioning flights). Having used Jetsar before I know the usual procedure is to collect your bags and check back in. I'm wondering however if that would still be the case here or if I've lucked our and don't have to deal with that nonsense.

Has anyone else had a similar booking before? What happened in that case?

Welcome to AFF!

Is your booking AAA-BBB then BBB-CCC or AAA-CCC (which includes a transit in BBB)? I recently flew the domestic AAA-BBB sector recently and there was an announcement for passengers continuing internationally to CCC to proceed through international transfer upon arrival at BBB - which suggests no need to retrieve bags and check in again.

On the itenerary it appears as two separate flights AAA-BBB and then BBB-CCC, but it is all in the one booking.

If this is the case you won't need to re check bags. You will need to deplane and go through transit security.

Early last year I took a NRT > CNS > MEL on the same flight number. About half of the passengers were continuing onto Melbourne at CNS. Everyone got off, redid security, waited at CNS for a bit before hopping back on (with new passengers). Checked bags, Immigrations and customs were all done at MEL for us.

If you were leaving Australia, you would be clearing immigration at your first airport with checks for your final destination (if you need visa etc done by JQ). Any TRS etc would also be done there, when you reach your transit, you'll go through the transit security (int'l to int'l) security then reboard the plane to final destination.
