Hi,
My friends and I are planning to travel to Asia in late Jan/early Feb next year for a few weeks and are trying to work out the cheapest flight plan.

We want to catch the AirAsia flight from the Gold Coast to KL which departs at 8:55. Given we are in Melbourne, would the Jetstar flight arriving in the Gold Coast at 7am the same morning allow enough time to collect baggage, check in again, go through customs etc.? Or would we be better off just flying to the Gold Coast the night before and staying in a cheap hotel?

I would be going the night before. If your JQ flight from MEL is late and you miss the AurAsia X flight, then you will not be protected by either airline. Its not worth the risk in my mind.
