I am not well-versed in prices; I only fly every couple of months and (historically) not to the same places. However, I like having data to compare so I can check that I am not paying stupid prices. I know I can just ask people here what the average price is, but I like self-help :p

Does anyone here know if there is there a website out there that takes regular quotes of major routes for public viewing? E.g. what was the lowest price recorded (when and which airline), running average price and monthly running price would all be pretty interesting.

A quick google search was plagued by expedia, skyscanner, etc. which I don't believe offer this kind of information (to my knowledge).

(I like playing with data...)

By the sounds of it that was what I was looking for. Thanks for looking it up! And yes it seems it is no longer there though :(

I don't have much free time at all, but if there is nothing out there I could potentially look at setting something up... Even if it is only for flights I look at :p

I am guessing that $1200 is a pretty good price for a return flight for SYD-DXB though... Unfortunately I transit through BNE and SIN on the way up and SIN on the way back. But in some ways I prefer multiple shorter flights... plus there is wifi on the flight between SIN and DXB!

Enjoy the journey!
