Hi everyone

I have just completed a trip MEL- HKG - LHR then MUC-SIN-MEL. Last year I also flew J for the first time and flew MEL-NRT - MEL.

I have now flown on JAL, Qantas, British Airways, Singapore Airlines in that order in J.

My comments on each business class and ratings are as follows:

JAL

Food: Very good, choice of Japanese or Western and very stylish presentation
Seating: Very comfy seating module
Service: Very good, polite staff, attentive although a little formal

Overall rating: 8/10

Qantas:

Food: Very good
Seating: Again, very comfy seating module
Service: Great Australian staff, fun to fly with, like a pyjama party in the sky

Overall rating: 8/10

British Airways

Food: Very good
Seating: Ummm, flying backwards? Still, seat was acceptable although outdated
Service: Great French and British older staff, was well looked after.

Overall rating: 7/10

Singapore Airways

Food: Not so great. Tasty but meat was chewy
Seating: Seat was hard and did not provide a fully reclinable bed. Not great.
Service: Far and away the best service from a young and attentive crew. SIN deserves its reputation for service excellence.

Overall rating: 6/10 (unfortunate due to outdated equipment and average food).

Still all the above are way better than flying Y so I'm not complaining.

cheers Peter

Great review- thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Sounds like SQ was quite disappointing- I’ve never flown with them in J, but so many people on here rave about them, so good to read a different perspective.

I actually flew SIA twice ie MUC-SIn and SIN-MEL. The first seat fully reclined but was sort of awkward to lie in. The second didn't fully recline and in fact the cabin was very cold. It was surprising because I had heard so many good things about SIA. However the staff were the best in the business. Genuinely nice, attentive staff.

MUC to SIN is A350. You have to fold the seat back down to get the full bed. Did you do this?

The staff did it for me. But it was still awkward lying on the seat at an angle. Not a great design.

cheers Peter
