"Coffee tax" creeping into IHG hotels

If a hotel is making guests wait 30 minutes for a coffee, maybe they need another barista.

Or a competent one. The popular coffee places in the city dont seem to have any problem pumping out 100s of coffees an hour.

I drink soy so machine coffee is out for me. HI MEL tried to charge me for coffee with (diamond welcome amenity) breakfast. When I explained I drank soy then there was no charge. I think this may be a one off so I won’t bank on it next time.

I was told recently that barista coffee would be $5 extra with the "free" Diamond breakfast at Holiday Inn Dandenong.

Ugh… Crowne Plaza Melbourne (the one near the casino) told me there would be an extra charge for barista coffee with breakfast this morning. I think this is the first time I’ve encountered this at a Crowne Plaza, anywhere in the world.

The Crowne Plaza in Carlton last week did not charge extra for barista coffee with the diamond breakfast.
