Hi All,

I am going on a little Asian jaunt in Oct and am seeking information as per the above.

I am staying at the Peninsular Excelsior for a few nights and would like to buy some casual clothes in Singas while I am there, for the trip.

What I THINK I am looking for is those cargo pants with the knee zip that become shorts, and just shorts like that.

Something that is cool, easy to dry and practical for the climate.

Any ideas please?

I am thinking of just wandering up and down Orchard Road but if I can be targeted by those who know, all the better. I am a Tall and largish gentleman - not REAL big though - something in the 3XL to 4XL range?

Thanks if you can help,

Al

Haven't really noticed those ones around, although I don't shop very much here. Oct isn't really a sales period, so you may be surprised at the price you need to pay, especially with the FX rates where they are now.

I'd try buying them from the outdoor clothing stores in Oz before you go. Singapore shopping is something I've not had much joy with.

I agree with Puskha.

Me too. We go to somewhere in Asia at least twice a year. We were in Singapore in January this year. My husband is an XL/XXL and even in the American brand places ( Brooks Brothers/Polo RL/etc) we couldn't get anything to fit him. The only place we have bought clothes is Marks & Spencer and it is a very limited range and not cheap. It is the same basically for women. I buy handbags and shoes in Singapore - not clothes.
So I would definitely do your shopping before you go.

That reminds me, my former boss was based in SIN for a while. He's a largish build but not obese, and had so much difficulty in finding clothes that he would go shopping during his work trip back to SYD.
