Ok am currently planning my personal travel for 2010 and am looking at a Circle Asia fare in J. Naturally prices increased yesterday, although this gives me a bit of breathing room in planning with the expectation they won’t rise in the next couple of months.
I have done a search and couldn't find answers to my questions.

Essentially I want to maximise SCs and to go back to Japan. Any and everywhere else is a bonus. I will be travelling for about 4-5 weeks over late Jan-Mar with the specific time requirement of being in Japan from 5-11 Feb for the snow and ice festival in Sapporo. Will separately book OneWorld Visit Japan fares for the NRT-CTS-NRT trip for only ¥10,000 each

Current price is AUD$5599 for >13,000miles plus of course taxes and fuel fines. What is the approximate value of these extras? I see that in the brochure it is USD$150 for each stopover over the free limit of four.

Also, is it possible to book in NZ$ noting that the price is 5,999.00 NZD = 4,856.68 AUD.

Some itineraries I have looked at (Monkey Mileage) include: SYD-NRT-INC-TPE-HKG-PER-SYD 12872 miles for 540 SCs and,

SYD-NRT-PEK-PVG-HKG-MNL-BNE-SYD 12711 miles for 560SCs.

So any traps for new players? Things to be aware of? Finally I want them to all credit to Qantas but am not worried about only having 2 trips on QF metal on this journey. Will pick up the other 2 trips during Christmas travel etc.

Note prices dind't increase yesterday, they returned to previously levels after a 100 day 10% off sale.
That said given current economic conditions increases are probably unlikely, although *Alliance recently increased Asian fares.

On NZ. Yes you can do that so long as you commence your flights there

I figured if there was to be a price rise they would have done it yesterday with the return of normal prices, maybe that logic is flawed but anyway thats the prices for now.

SIN-PER-MEL-SYD-NRT-KIX-TPE-HKG-SIN = 560sc

That was one i did last year i think it was.
Sure a RTW is not a lot more cost but not everybody wants to go around the world just to got to Japan for example ;)

At the time when the price was $4649 ex-AU my total cost was SGD $5980, the base cost was SG $5400, but that was with QF fuel taxes and included phone booking fees and everything.

In the end i changed my routing i think and did NRT-KIX as a land leg. I would have to re-check what ended up doing i can hardly remember now.

Referring to the OW site The country where you originate your journey, so the only way to get NZ prices, is to commence in NZ.

To boost SC when you buy the JAL Airpass for Y10,000 o/w. At the airport you can pay Y1000 to upgrade to J on the flight to CTS and you will get J SC and pts for the extra Y1000! I got 60SC from CTS to KIX so its a good deal. You can ever pay Y8000 to upgrade to F on the HND to ITM or HND to CTS on JAL only. Worth looking into I think
