China Southern Rip-off

Hi Guys,
I thought you should hear about this one.
Booked premium economy with China Southern to Nanjing, wanted the change the return date and was first told by the airline and by lastminute.com.au "no problem" just have to pay taxes & re-booking fee to lastminute.com.au, when 3 days later I tried to book the new date I was told I had to pay an additional $2,165.70, the original ticket cost $1,442.48. total $3,608.18
Needless to say, asked to cancel the lot and had a fantastic trip with Singapore airlines for $1,147.00. This cost me $300.00 cancelation fee and China Southern will only refund it into my credit card after 30 days. Sent e-mail to China Southern which was not responded to and tried to phone them, after 90 minutes on hold I gave up.
Used to fly with them twice a year to Guangzhou, plus numerous times in their domestic route, after this they are not going to see me ever again.

That is a big difference. Unusual for CZ.

How close to departure were you changing the date? Were dates around the ones you wanted as bad? May have been that the new dates only had a few (of the most expensive) seats left.

Plus you'd have been in Y, not Y+ with SQ.

If you book with a third party like www.lastminute.com.au then you must continue to deal with them until your outbound flight as they are acting as your agent so the airline will refer you back to them.

It may be that the CZ has refunded the money back to the agent & they're sitting on the money.
