I am going AKL SYD Guangzhou - Changsha next week. First time on China Southern, flying J all the way. A few comments from the travel agent were a worry.. any experiences or tips for this trip? I usually travel QF or NZ Kiwiajb

I have never flown them but I often wonder if people lump the Chinese airlines into the Air China or is it China Air are a bad airline mould?

I have to say, that in planning an upcoming trip to China, I will looking at avoiding flying the Chinese airlines. Am I being silly in doing so?

I actually received some good feedback from a client a couple of years ago about china southern's J product, from all accounts it was quite enjoyable.

From my experience in whY, simply don't ! Boss in J said it was not much better than whY.

But since you have no choice and its long haul maybe its ok. Mine was a semi short haul or regional flight, and i would guess long haul would be better. Generally i try to get to HK and CX or KA if possible.

I have done a few whY flights in CZ, longest being about 2.5 hours.

I have generally found them to be OK.

As Evan commented, doesn't appear to be a big difference in service between Y and J on short hual, but do not know about long haul.

J should be fine. All farm produce must be stored in the overhead. Pets and livestock must be caged under seat.
Y is a bit different, you can carry livestock on your lap but no more than 3 chickens per seat...
