China Airlines reward seats using Qantas points

I have the app and, thanks to all the posts re using FirstnameMiddlename, had no issues with bringing up the QF reservation. I can see SEAT with a pencil, presumably for editing, for each passenger but when I click on that I get a "deserializing error". Am I doing this correctly or missing a vital step in the process? Tried emailing the local CI office and was told that QF bookings can't select seats.
I've seen many ambiguous errors in this process, but not "deserialising"!

Thanks I have conquered the CI app .. Reserved seats for the BNE -TPE leg Briarflyer I didn’t get any error message .. but the next TPE - Rome is not available .. The strange thing is I have tried to do a fictitious purchase of the same flight through CI Website and it says it’s too early to purchase .. ( which could explain why I can’t reserve the seat ) I have the e-ticket from Qantas which means CI releases reward seats to Qantas before they sell them … ? Or I don’t have the flight ..😳

Or QF selling cancelled CI flight? 🤭

Any experience with Qantas reward on China Airlines and special needs, e.g. requesting a bassinet seat for infant? Or is that also not possible with a QF reward ticket on CI?

I had a QF reward on CI last year, SYD-TPE in J, and had no issues logging in on the CI homepage with the QF booking ref and selecting seats. But I have no middle name so maybe that made it simpler???

Hi all
I have booked a flight with CI useing Qantas points .BNE-TPE-TPE-ROME with a overnight stop over in Taiwan.. In my excitement of finding the 2nd leg and it actually working I forgot about the fact I would require our luggage after the 1st leg … yes stupid I now … suggestions Anybody as I presume our luggage will be checked through as it’s on one booking …It was also the only way to snag the 2 nd leg due to the website not allowing Taipei to Rome booked on its own…I have also read it’s difficult booking seat requests .. I have got the CI app and it still doesn’t acknowledge the E ticket or the Qantas booking number .. Thanks if anyone could answer
If it’s an overnight stop and you want you bags, just let them know at check in, they can tag your bags to TPE only. You will need to check in again the next day to drop off your bags.

Alternatively back what you need in carry on.

I had no problems with the website 3 years ago, but earlier this year only worked through the app. And my middle name didn't change ;)

Great.. wasn’t sure if I could do that… Carry on I thought of doing but didn’t like the idea of ou4 luggage roaming the airport without us for 36 hours ..!

If the stop is over 24 hours the bags won't be checked through anyway, so you'll have to pick them up.

Not answering your question but if you are flying business, why do you need a bassinet?

With my 6m old, co-sleeping with mum on the flat bed is so much more comfortable then tiny airplane bassinets.

We were looking at Y or PE and therefore a bassinet would be handy.
