China Airlines cancelled flight

Most of the posts recently on AFF regarding compensation have involved poor or inadequate offers and a lot of heartache. Think CI have made a decent effort to rectify the inconvenience and without you having to pressure them for it. A good outcome and some of their competition could learn a thing or two...

I think jetpack is on the right track here. What’s important is your net position at the end... which is same same but with one less domestic connection and a nice break in the middle for a good sleep. Anything you might be able to reclaim is a bit of a bonus (worth trying for though).

Also worth noting that if you have one of the credit cards with a free priority pass lounge access, there is a lounge you can use in TPE prior to departure.

Funny you should say that re the priority pass. I am currently half way through spend to get the 90k from St George amplify. Stupidly nominated QF points (although does take me to a value where my next redemption will be). Looked into the lounge at TPE and called about switching to their amplify rewards scheme. Appears to be one of the hardest questions they have ever come across and got bumped from dept to dept. They are saying that if i change midway through spend i will get no bonus from either scheme! If the QF points post before flight i will change to amplify and ask for the passes as the lounge looks reasonable at TPE.

Agreed with above posts regarding compensation. It looks to be very reasonable and better breaking up the trip in Taipei. The Novotel is not a bad hotel for an overnight stay.
