I have a flight from DRW - LHR, flying JQ on the Singapore sector and then QF on the London sector. Can my bags be checked through all the way, or do I need to collect them in Singapore and check in again?

Many thanks

I'm not sure about that.

There is no entry in that table at all for SIN in relation to JQi--> QF transfers. (JQi-->"International (other carrier)" as "Not Provided".)

Aside from that, who operates JQ57 or JQ61? "Jetstar Domestic or Jetstar International"? The answer to that may assist.

You're looking at MCTs, not baggage interline which is the last column:

Provided^^
(Except CHC & WLG)

There have been previous posts that confirmed through checked baggage.

Having had a closer look at the table I have to say I might be wrong, it would appear only 3K to 3K gets connections, as Serfty points out there is no MCT which would indicate interlining is not possible.

I would suggest you prepare to grab your bag at SIN, although I am sure it will be advised at check in whats happening.

JQ definitely can check the bags all the way through to LHR irrespective of whether it's JQ57 or JQ61 connecting QF9 to LHR, QF5 to FRA etc.

You will however need to see the QF transit counter at SIN for your onward boarding pass SIN/LHR as JQ can't issue that.

As you will be getting your QF boarding pass in SIN can you preallocated your seat or do OLCI so you don't end up with a middle seat?

How many of you are there & what date do you go?

I note that you are a WP so you'd be able to use the lounge (landside only-no airside lounge) if you're on JQ57 which departs @ 1610 as the QP shuts up shop at 1545 when QF843 departs for SYD. There's more to life than hanging around airports so let me know if you need suggestions for where to chill out in the arvo.

List of airlines JQ interline baggage with

Further to above post I asked JQ DRW (Skystar Ground Handling) re transferring bags to a QF flight & they gave me a list of other airlines they interline bags with. These other airlines do not have to be in the same pnr as the JQ flights but obviously minimum connecting times would need to be observed at the transfer point which in the above case is SIN.

(AC) Air Canada
(AF) Air France
(AY) Finnair
(BA) British Airways
(EK) Emirates Airlines
(EY) Etihad Airlines
(FJ) Air Pacific
(JL) Japan Airlines
(KL) KLM
(LH) Lufthansa
(PX) Air Niugini
(QF) Qantas
(QR) Qatar Airways
(RJ) Royal Jordanian
(SB) Air Calin
(TN) Air Tahiti Nui

I have assumed that the JQ flight will arrive at the same terminal that QF9 departs from? is that correct?

Not always a good assumption when a LCC is involved however in this case both JQi and QF operate from the same terminal in SIN.

I wonder if that is just a DRW -SIN -LHR thing ? A friend of mine flew CNS -BNE- LAX last Thursday , flight down to BNE was Jetstar ticketed with a QF flight number. Upon checking in at the Jetstar counter she was told they cannot check her bag through to LAX , so at 78 yrs of age ,she had to collect her bag at the Domestic terminal in BNE and transport it herself to the International terminal and have it checked through to LAX !Maybe different rules in different cities.

I think the key point here is that it's only JQ international flights that will interline to other carriers including QF. Even though she was booked under a QF codeshare flight number it's what airline is operating the flight ie whose metal it is that determines the interlining of baggage.

As CNS/BNE was a domestic flight on JQ metal they don't through check bags to other destinations - even if connecting flight is JQ eg if going CNS JQ BNE JQ NTL you would still need to collect your bags in BNE & recheck for the NTL flight.

It would be interesting to see if anyone has successfully through checked bags from other JQ international flights to other carriers as listed on this thread eg MEL JQ BKK KL AMS.
