Check-in time confusion URGENT

Hi I mostly travel domestic and am a bit out of depth with International.

I fly tomorrow Melb-Syd for connecting flight to LA. Flight at 9am.

Virgin website says check in is OPEN 3hrs to 90mins PRIOR to flight. My ticket reminder says to 'Check in at least 3 hrs prior to flight'. Which is it?? Do i have to check in between 4hrs-3hrs OR between 3hrs-90mins?

So really, when does check-in open and when does it close??

ANY help would be appreciated. I have called Virgin twice and received conflicting information!

3 hours is fine with Virgin. Often the desk will not be open prior to that.

Sorry I just read your going domestic first. In the past when I've done the same I did 2 hours. Not sure what your status is, but if you're less than gold you will need to line up to get all the transfer docs for Sydney and Mondays at that time is very busy.

Welcome to AFF! Since your 1st leg is domestic, 3 hours will be more than enough. But getting to the airport tomorrow is another matter...

Why? should i be worried? is there traffic works on?? or something else????

The urgency is that i am travelling with friends who are flying Qantas. They can check-in online and only have to be there 90mins before hand. The are my lift in and they are planning to arrive at airport at 6:15 which would mean i would miss the pre-3hrs check-in deadline. They have baby twins in tow and are not keen to get them up any earlier than needed.

So i am looking at checking in 2,45hrs before flight. Don't want to get turned away at the check-in for missing...

There are taxi issues on at the moment but as you're getting a lift that won't affect you. You will have plenty of time. Don't stress yourself out for no reason

Are they actually stopping cars from entering or are they just disrupting the taxi area?

Maybe we should add some extra travel time.

Given Mondays are busy as hell anyway I would suggest it would be prudent to do so.

On Friday the protest was on the lower level and the taxi rank, it was not affecting the departures ramp/road or access to the car parks.
