OSL-LAX - 14/10/15 - $221 (DY)
LAX-BKK - 19/10/15 - $520 (BR)
BKK-OSL - 25/10/15 - $232 (DY)

Total - $973

whats the best price you can do? any route, any airline, best price.

Just for kicks!

And two legs on Norwegian, which is OK. Is the EVA leg via Taipei?

Interesting topic. I guess it depends on where the LCCs are. Europe-Asia and Europe-USA can be fairly easily done using low-cost airlines like Norwegian. Eurowings and WOW Air (based in Iceland) are two others that come to mind. USA-Asia is perhaps a slightly tougher route for finding low fares but I'm sure it can be done.

You get bonus points for more destinations, while keeping the price low. And you get more points from me if you can include more flights in the southern hemisphere. That's the tricky part.

Add a cheap air asia or scoot/tiger from australia to bangkok and that would include flying to the southern hemisphere.

Sounds good but from OSL, majority here are in OZ.

Agree with Alanslegal get to ASIA then commence, NZ might be worth a look in too.

My favourite (when closer to aud/usd parity) was MEL-AKL-PPT-LAX-PAR // ROM-DXB-CMB-SIN-MEL

This could be done for around $1700 in 2013, lets call it $2200 now due to the flailing AUD.

These days you can still do MEL-AKL-PPT-LAX-PAR-KUL-MEL for around 2k.

Does anyone know how to do a cheap stop from the south pacific to south america?
