Scoot is currently offering (very) cheap flights ex SYD, MEL, PER to VIE. Various dates available to March 27 (and possibly beyond). Here's an example...

Finnair has also released very very competitive fares for travel over the next 10 months. There's an OzB post about it here, and the Finnair website itself has a list of destinations and lead in prices.

Edit: I should note that economy and business are on sale but not PE it seems

Well, I did bite the bullet for the end of April, at a cost of $1,295 (including free cancellation/refund for a credit voucher). 7 hour layover in SIN.

For the return, I booked a SQ business class redeption using VA points IST-SIN and a QF redemption in Y SIN-SYD-CBR.

Fairly cheap trip, all up.
