Hi Guys, I'm a newbie here, and have found heaps of great information in the forums. I am determined to reach Gold Status by November when my credits expire, and have been surfing around different sites looking for fares which will increase my status points. On Zuji.sg i can book a return business class SIN-BKK with Cathay for aprox $450. I can not find this repeated anywhere else including the Zuji AU site, or the Cathay site. Would this fare be correct, and why would it only be available on Zuji.SG? Would i still earn miles and status credits?
Many Thanks Kennycbr

The problem with Zuji is that you can't see the fare class that a fare books into unless you actually book the ticket.

You can contact Zuji support and ask, however you'll probably get a response like "You'll need to book the fare to find out". Give them a call though, and see if they can tell you...

Generally speaking though, for Business class on Cathay, just about all fares will book into points earning classes. It's Economy that has many, many classes that won't earn points, and cheap Cathay economy fares often book into those types of classes.

I suspect the fare will book into the I class (which is a points earning class) as are J, D and C. This covers just about all revenue business seats on their planes - but without being able to confirm it myself, I can't guarantee that will be the case.

The only thing to watch is that the flight is on Cathay metal (ie it isn't operated by anyone other than a oneWorld airline) as eg a flight CX999 which is operated by Malaysian Airlines won't earn points, but a flight CX998 on Cathay metal and a flight CX997 operated by Qantas will earn points/sc's.

The fare will either be a Zuji only special, or only sold in Singapore agent special. If you can find other online travel agencies based in Singapore (Priceline.com.sg doesn't offer it btw) then you might be able to find the same fare and the booking class.

Sorry I can't be more positive or informative, but hopefully that explains some of the issues around the fare.

BTW, welcome.

I came across this fare a few weeks ago. I'm a little suspicious as it is so far below CX's published business fares for this route (even lower than most published economy fares).

I have tried contacting Zuji to confirm that it is actually business class, but haven't been able to speak to anyone.

There have been cases in the past where the cabin stated in the search engine is not actually the cabin booked.

The fare doesn't look too out-of-whack to me based on other I class specials found in Asia at times. Zuji does create a Sabre booking when you attempt to book it, but it is locked down and not accessible via the Sabre website (www.virtuallythere.com).

Anyway, I'd be interested in seeing if the fare can be found via any other Singapore based travel agent, or someone interested in booking gets a chance to chat to Zuji.

The fare is ticketed in business class (1), so I've made the booking, a bit of a bargain i guess. Thanks for the assistance:)

Those tag-leg's used to always be good value, CX SIN-BXX and AY SIN-BKK, JL on SIN-KUL sometimes also....
Then they sort of dried up and got lots more expensive, now they are starting to look cheaper again. Yes sounds like a decent deal now :)

I was looking at this for cheap business travel (I'm happy to pay the extra $29 it costs over the comparable SQ economy fare that is compliant with company policy). However timetable really doesn't work as to do a 1 day meeting you need to take 3 days to fly CX :(. OK for leisure travel though.
