Hi guys,

Just read the website in more detail as dates are drawing closer. Mileage Limits Chauffeur Drive | Qantas

I noticed a couple of things.

1. To LAX > 40 miles = $3.50/mile. Do you have to call them to say you are outside of the 40 mile radius? and do they actually charge according to that rate? or there are hidden fees or they go by "range" or " sectors" etc?
2. In BNE - it says 2 adults maximum? and 2 check in and one carry on. That's between the two adults? So they expect you to travel with one check in each and only one person can have a carry on?

And how much do they charge for car seat? do they charge if you bring your own? I suppose two people in J might as well get two cars then....

Oh and any experience with the charge for larger vehicle? I assume it becomes a SUV and the luggage allowance increases proportionally?

Just as i was thinking this service could be so great.... I suppose they dont want you to put luggage on the seats.

I can't really answer all your questions as I've not needed to do these things, but they do ring a couple of days before your flight to confirm time etc and they asked how many pieces of luggage I had. I'm sure you could talk them through it then to get a vehicle type that will suit your needs.

I cannot speak for LAX - but I can for BNE.

In BNE, the firm that do both EK and QF chauffeur drive service is Limoso - Limoso Luxury Limousine hire | business transfers, wedding car hire, stretch limousine hire and more - they are also the Brisbane Burnel service provider.

Their office is only 6 doors down from mine in BNE - and use them all the time even when flying in Y to get to and from the airport under a private arrangement - which they would do for any FF.

Most of their drivers are independent contractors, the driver more often than not owns the car they are driving. Most are in partnership with another - doing 4 days on, 4 days off. My experience is they are more than happy to load up bags etc on the back seat - but they tend to all want to load it in their cars to avoid I assume scratches/damage - that or they just want to go that extra mile.

If you think you can fit it in a C300 or similar car, including the back seat and fitting both of you in - I cannot personally see any issues on the BNE front.

Hi there,
If you get a upgrade from PE to J using points, can you get the limo service?
Thank you!

Ike - I think so, but personally have not done it.

Mushez and Bismarck - Thanks, I am gonna give them a call when I get a chance.

I find the whole last minute confirmation thingy a real turn off.

I'm 40k outside the zone for BNE and have no worries paying the additional charges. We're entitled to three cars however, all I want is a van to carry the four of us to & from the airport....attempted to be proactive and called QFF to arrange - waste of time!

I have to wait until the 11th hour to confirm if I can get one van or two cars or three if we end up dealing with a luggage naz_......aghhhh

My normal guy charges $350 (return trip) in a merc van.

The (free) QF Chauffeur service (return trip) could be:-

One van $224

Two cars $448

Three cars $672

I can't be stuffed waiting until the day before we fly to find out what they can do for us......normal guy is booked.

The limo booking needs to be done > 48 hours before departure, so if the upgrade is confirmed early enough you can get the limo service. As an SG this would be very unlikely I think.

Actually your calculations are probably wrong, and a big underestimation.

I live approx 65km from BNE airport. Chauffeur each way is charged at $35. When I asked about the $2.80/ km excess (so expected to pay $14) , they said it would be $28. Why? Because they say they charge the kms from the 60km to the pick up and then back to the 60 km boundary. The chauffeur company says they have set rates for each suburb which bears little relationship to the $2.80/km stated on QF website.

So basically double the numbers I posted......never thought about the charge to & from the zone boundary. Makes the normal option look pretty bloody good at $350 for a return trip.

The charges aren't really the issue for me. It's having to wait until the very end to tie up the arrangements......can't see why they can't confirm the details early and take the last minute scramble out of the equation.

I'm looking at a QFF J award fare Syd-LHR which shows Syd-DXB as an EK flight number and DXB-LHR is QF1. I presume you get the chauffeur service at sydney for the flight to DXB, but does the DXB-LHR sector still qualify you for a London chauffeur as the QF coded fight is under 12 hours?
