I currently have a Saver redemption booked for AMS-SIN-SYD. The reason I chose AMS was hoping try the new A350 as it was rumored to begin in April. Since that has been delayed I figure there is no point me diverting to AMS to fly home, as MUC is much closer to where my itinerary ends.
My problem is that when I look for award space to change my booking , MUC-SIN is open, but SIN-SYD is waitlisted.

I thought I remembered reading somewhere, that in this scenario - even though i want to keep the SIN-SYD leg that I have already booked - I cannot change one leg ie AMS-SIN >> MUC-SIN, but would have to cancel the whole booking and start again? Is this correct?

Kaiser indeed you cannot change a dep port on a KF rdpt booking - you can change dest port - you will need to cancel and make new booking - as Abdul posted call KF ctr in SIN for assistance.

Thanks Crusier - yeah that was my understanding of how it worked, however I don't think cancelled award seats automatically return to inventory - so if I cancelled I would risk losing my SIN-SYD flight which is showing as waitlisted.

And that is exactly why you need to call KF before you cancel - explain your situation - if MUC-SIN available they should be able to re-ticket with your existing SIN-SYD sector married to MUC-SIN - just call and ask.

Made a few calls but the answer was pretty much as I expected - in order to change one sector of a redemption booking - they insist that you cancel the whole booking and rebook. Thus, even though I have a confirmed redemption on the SIN-SYD, I would have to cancel it as well and lose my seat on this flight.

Sorry to hear you are not getting someone more helpful, I arranged basically what you are trying to arrange less than a month ago.

I find there is a lot of variability in how helpful various operators can be. I would try calling again. I once called 4 times in a day before I got the answer I wanted!

I currently have an award redemption BKK-SIN-BNE booked for 05 October but have changed my mind and would like to change it to BKK-SIN-SYD on 07 October to arrive in SYD on 08 October.

Firstly is it possible to change the redemption? Unfortunately all flights are on WAITLIST so cannot confirm anything at this stage.

Secondly is it possible to cancel the award redemption and redeposit the miles back into account? If I am reading correctly the cancellation would cost US30 and I would receive a refund of the fuel surcharges?

Yes when you cancel all points are returned plus the original taxes and charges minus the cancellation fee (which I think from memory can be $ or points , but the $ is a better deal).

PS: I normally book my SQ Awards as two one ways as it makes any later changes easier.

So would the cancellation fee be USD75 + USD30 to redeposit the miles? It is a fairly significant cost in the grand scheme of things.

I may just move the dates of the award to some date in the future. I believe you can do this free of charge?

$75 only applies if you change or cancel <24 hrs before departure. It is an addition to the $30. If >24hrs before departure the only $30 USD applies.

I have found business class on 07 Oct BKK-SIN-PER for ~4,000 more KrisFlyer files + ~AUD40 extra. That's a routing and class of travel change so may require more change fees?

And award PER-SYD-BNE is 26,000 QFF points + ~AUD140.

Not cheap but can't think of any other way of being in SYD by Saturday night and BNE on Sunday night.

Have a similar Q to the OP - sorry if I'm hijacking your thread.

I have a confirmed SYD-SIN flight and a wait listed SIN-HAN flight. I want both flights to be on the one ticket so that I can a) redeem my miles at the lower rate and b) collect Changi $ vouchers in SIN. I briefly spoke to a SQ operator who wasn't very helpful and I had to end the call as I was going into a meeting but my understanding is that the only way I can do this is to cancel the SYD-SIN flight and re-book as a SYD-SIN-HAN flight. Is this correct and my only option?
