Changing flights

IIRC people requesting a change of flight have a greater chance of success in the J lounge. Can anyone confirm this?

I'm hoping to move a MEL-SYD flight forward and spend longer in the Flounge.

It really depends upon your booking class, the attitude of the person manning the service desk, the phase of the moon etc..

There's one at MEL I never ask as I was rebuffed by her on three separate occasions, another who was able to do so with a smile.

In the end I simply try to book with at least a three hour transit in SYD, preferably four. (It can take 20-30 minutes to transit SYD T3->T1->emigration->Security->Walk through shopping Mall->Flounge and the onway flight would board at least 40 minutes prior to scheduled departure.)

Don't know,, but I was booked on the 5pm to Sydney on Wednesday, got to the airport at 4 and the check in kiosk said that there was a 4:30 flight with a seat available if I wanted it.. just meant that I had to take the only remaining seat in J which was aisle.. for the short flight didn't make any difference so I took it.

That would be you basic "Flow Forward" where on busy days QF don't see 10 flights, they see 2000 seats ...

What the OP was after was an earlier connecting flight though to SYD from MEL before an ex SYD international flight.
