Guys,

I've just done a dummy booking SYD-KUL and its coming up as 100,000 miles one way in J.
In addition, there seems to be rises across the board looking at the latest specials here:

Campaign - Say Hello to 2017 | Malaysia Airlines

I'm sure I haven't read anywhere about these changes - can anyone shed any light?

I've said it before and I'll say it again - MH has lost the plot.

GRRRRR

Ok I may have jumped the gun.
The increase may be due to MH's lovely (not) dynamic pricing strategy.

In any case when did KUL-NRT cost 100,000 miles one way in J per the link above.

Yes MH have different levels of availability corresponding to different commercial fare buckets. If the lowest, D class, fare bucket is available you will get the lowest points required for the award. Once the lowest class is exhausted it is more like points plus pay .
