Hello friends

We plan to have a side trip to BUD during our trip to Paris next year (Jan 2013).

1) Which airline(s) would you recommend for the CDG - BUD return trip ?

e.g. I have never heard of Malev Airline (MA)

2) Which search engines should I be looking at ?

I have been USA-centric so far with the result that intra-European flights I have few clues on where to start.

Many thanks to the seasoned Sky Warriors on AFF

Most of the big airlines in Europe are 'much a muchness' regarding inflight product. And it's a shortish flight too so there isn't a huge variance between the airlines.

You can choose direct on Air France or Malev, or go via another European hub like Amsterdam (KLM has a sale on at the moment so it might work). I would go direct on Air France so you have more time on the ground in Hungary... I would avoid Malev.

RE: Booking engines, use the IATA Matrix tool which can view best fares... you then go to the airlines website to book direct. Matrix - ITA Software

Malev don't belong to Oneworld. They left earlier this year (IIRC) as they were in financial strife and ceased operations.

Thank you for your kind help - so typical of AFF community.

Unfortunately, the 1 1/2 day diversion as allowed by my timetable does not justify the flight duration / costs.

Will have to "suffer" in Paris then.

Another trip to Pierre Herme for some consolation macaroons !

Thanks again for the heads up on IATA search engine which I had forgotten about.
