NAB Qantas Platinum didn't give me points on sportsbet payment as per the T&C. I intend to use sportsbet, betfair and Intrade to bet on the US elections.

Is tehre any card that will give points? I currently also have the Woolworths MC, along with ANZ QFF and Westpact Earth.

I use qantas credit union visa, I think they do give me points....can someone correct me if I am wrong

Interestingly Citibank blocks merchant authorisations from any gambling site, including lotto.

Your ANZ QF card will earn points.
Are you sure? Looking the T&C (anz.com/aus/ind/creditcard/frequentflyerrewards/tcs.asp): under the definition of "Cash Equivalent Transaction" it lists "gambling chip purchases".

I'm looking to change from my basic Westpac Altitude Card and I'm trying to find the best Visa-that's-not-from-Citibank/Amex-that's-not-issued-by-Amex card combo that will give points on "gambling transactions" so I can rack up some extra points when I need to by pushing through funds to bet on $1.01 certainties like GWS or GCS playing almost anyone in the AFL etc. So far, I am without success.

You would think the betting companies themselves would have an answer to this?

In fact gambling shoved down everyone's throats during football tv broadcasts it is a wonder there is not a sportsbet or tab mastercard.

It would certainly make sense although I can imagine a lot of people wouldn't like this and probably neither would the government. In the absence of this, does a CC like this still exist? I know ANZ used to but seems to not be the case any more. Doesn't seem like any of the banks nor Amex do. Can't say one exhaustively checked everyone else, but turned up squat insofar.

In south Australia the lotto agencies refuse to take any card for purchases even EFTPOS.

Could be law, could be the lack of profit. Tatts in qld accepts cards online and also. At the golden casket HQ. No Amex of course...from my understanding they don't like gambling organisations.

I know most cards are accepted at everywhere I'd want to use (except, for example, Citibank), but it's just that the 'purchases' are considered to be 'cash advances' :(

Note that cba have started considering gambling as a cash advance and charge a cash advance fee too.

So do Westpac. And, from the T&Cs, so do ANZ and NAB. Wonder if any of the NBFIs still consider gambling as a purchase?

I think it's a law against lotto/instant lotto purchases with credit. I'm just surprised that has been extended to eftpos.

Can't even buy lottery tickets here on a card.

Not sure about online, but in VIC it varies outlet by outlet... Many will let you pay on CC (usually only VISA or MC).

"ANZ are the only one of the Big Four banks to buck the trend and charge gambling purchases at a purchase rate of interest."

From ANZ's T&Cs: "Some types of transactions, regardless of whether you have interest free days on your account, will always attract interest, such as when you obtain a cash advance (for example, if you take out cash from an ATM and select ‘credit’ as the account type) or a cash equivalent transaction (for example, purchasing gambling chips)."

So, I wonder if that means it just "chips" at casinos and online betting agencies etc. are OK?

If so, I'm pretty keen to get an ANZ credit card :D
