Just booked a brief sojourn in my favourite state not to live in - Tas
Flying Deathstar so looked at car hire on their website. $99 for 4 days
But then I remembered the super-duper, 4x bonus QF points email from the last few days so I checked out their website. Indeed, they do have cars available but for slightly more coin.
The same car costs $30 more on Qantas but there's 520 QF points in it for for me.

It all depends on how YOU value points.

Do you need 500 points to reach a particular award flight or are they just going into the 'bank'?

Most people value points at .1 to .2 cents. For me they go up to as high as .5 cents.

Do you really mean 0.1, 0.2 and 0.5? Even as a non-QF collector I'd go 1, 2, 5

I would not pay $30 for 520 points!

Seriously, even buying 500 points directly from Qantas would only cost $20. ;)

So, if I was getting a credit card with a sign-on bonus of 52,000 points, for example, that credit card would cost $3,000
Hmmm
