Had a pretty poor experience with the offshore call centre - wanted to add an econ segment to a long haul UA J award.
Flat out you can't change it, then transferred because the person apparently didn't know international.
Then it needs to be cancelled and rebooked (I'm sure the J award space would disappear).
Apparently its in the fare rules but when you click that you get

We are sorry. We are unable to retrieve the requested fare rules at the moment."
Have just done it as a seperate segment, unsure if UA will through check in BNE.
As I understand I should still get Polaris in SFO (same day arrival J flight) when I do go back in for the same-day econ flight.
