Can't book DXB to MEL with cash?

So this may be a silly question but I don't know the answer. Why can't I book DXB to MEL in J using cash on the QF website?

It comes up with: The cities you've selected can only be booked using Qantas Points. Switch on 'Use points' or change your departure or arrival city and try again.

I've booked this trip in the past, but it was with points. I guess cash is different since it's EK metal?

Similarly you can’t book on Qatar flights with money only points.

Unless its a glitch, it may be that the same reason as you can't pay for flights originating in Qatar with cash/card. Qantas doesn't have an FX 'agreement' or whatever its called with Qatar, so they can't accept payment in Q Riyals. As fares are done in the currency of the country or origin, you can't book flights out of Doha.

Perhaps the 'agreement' with UAE has expired??

I've never been able to use cash to book a multi city using Doha as the pivot but that's likely the Qantas IT system. Always comes up with Unrecognised Airport.
