Can't book award seats using Multi-City booking engine, but individual sectors available

Is that even a legal connection? I was initially offered a 0 minute connection when I asked originally, but they couldn’t see any of the later connections that were actually legal. Ultimately they just told me I needed to book them separately. Really bizarre
No - MCT is 90 mins. Called Hobart this morning using a relatives FF# and they were happy to move me 1 flight later.

Is there any update on this problem? I tried to book BNE-MEL-HKG today. BNE-MEL and MEL-HKG available separately, and I used multicty tool to price out, but errored out just on payment.
Called Qantas, and similarly, they said there isn't availability. Is this still an issue in limbo?

I’ve read through this topic a couple of times and want to sanity check my understanding against a potential rewards booking I’m currently looking at.

I have a large balance of points and would like to redeem them for a one-way flight from Sydney to London via Hong Kong. I’m flexible on routing and am leaning toward Hong Kong as it has the most availability.

When I search Sydney > London using the standard search, there are no viable options apart from classic plus awards pricing at 600k+ points - not what I want. However, classic rewards availability is available if I break the trip up using the multi‑city search.
Using multi‑city, I can see availability on the following routing: Sydney > Brisbane > Hong Kong > London. These flights all occur within the same day and is what I wanted all along, but it is not available under the normal search as a classic reward option. The Sydney to Brisbane leg is necessary as there are no Sydney to Hong Kong available as a classic reward.

Based on my reading of this thread, my understanding is that this routing cannot actually be ticketed, and that I’ll eventually receive an error at the payment stage. Is that correct? If so, I’ll need to rethink my approach, probably buy a cash fare and keep accumulating points to try and use another time.

If BNE-HKG-LHR is available then you can ticket that, and buy a separate ticket SYD-BNE.

Or ex SYD night ticket anyway. You’ve got nothing to lose by trying.

There could be some minimum connection times throwing a spanner in the works.

Have you tried fiddling around with the MC search and breaking the trip into chunks rather than individual sectors?

Maybe
SYD-BNE/BNE-LHR or
SYD-HKG/HKG-LHR

But any combo that works (tickets) is a win.

It’s the domestic block for forced connections… the computer says no. Hobart can override, but that’s about it.
