Hello fellow frequent travelers,

my father who is an older gentleman is travelling on SQ212 from Syd to Sin in April. Its a 6:40 am flight.

I know the airport is open from 3am and customs are open from 4am so I will try to get there around 4:30am. I assume there wont be to many queues around that time.

Question is : is it possible to buy a pass into any lounge at the Sydney airport so he can sit down, have coffee and some breakfast before the flight?

thanks in advance.

He can buy a $55 pass to the koru club for up to 4 hours of lounging pre flight. Problem is it opens at 0600. This would be the most convenient as SQ's gates would be just below the lounge or near.

thanks for that .... its a bummer though as it opens at 6am. Any other lounges that allow pass buy in that open earlier?

why pay for lounge access if all you want is coffee and breakfast. I can't imagine the airport would be that busy that early.

Spend you moola on real food.

Have you thought about using special assistance from the airline??
similar to unaccompanied minors airlines also offer assistance for older people travelling.

I only have experience with the UM service from back in the day but I know that there have been times where there are old couples with the UM's as well.

Maybe you just give the attendant some money and say can you get him some food and coffee.
From my experience generally means (somewhat dated but I assume still the same)
- taken though immigration generally in the staff queue so not with all pax
- taken to the gate
- pre boarded before anyone else
- assisted off the plane
- assisted through customs and immigration again at the other end.
- taken to arrivals and handed to whoever is meeting him or taken to a waiting area for pickup.

When my grandfather was still around I went from QF SYD to BNE with him and my parents booked him in with assistance.
Looked after from checkin to arrivals where my uncle was waiting for us.

I have been a UM on Singapore air, cathey pacific, qantas & Ansett ( shows you just how back in the day it was).

As I said I haven't used it in ages but assume most good airlines still offer it.
Cant hurt to call and ask airline about it
(they may even take him to a lounge to wait, but there is no guarentee)
